How to set up IPTV on Apple TV (M3U & Xtream)
Step by step: add your own M3U/M3U8 or Xtream playlist to UniPlayer on Apple TV, load the TV guide (EPG), and start watching in minutes. Bring your own playlist.
To set up IPTV on Apple TV: install UniPlayer from the App Store, sign in (or start the 30-day free trial), then add your own playlist — an M3U/M3U8 URL or an Xtream login — either on the device or via my.uniplayer.net. UniPlayer imports the channels, loads the EPG, and you start watching. For 4K H.265 channels, switch that channel's player to VLC. UniPlayer ships no channels: you bring your own playlist, like VLC opens your own file.
UniPlayer is a media player for Apple TV — think of it as VLC for IPTV and OTT playlists. It includes no channels: you bring your own M3U / M3U8 link or Xtream login from your provider, and UniPlayer turns it into a fast, clean TV experience with a program guide, archive and 4K playback. Here’s how to get it running on Apple TV in a few minutes.
What you’ll need
- An Apple TV HD or 4K running tvOS 15 or later.
- Your own playlist: an M3U/M3U8 URL or file, or an Xtream login (host, username, password) from your provider.
- A free UniPlayer account — the 30-day trial needs no payment details.
Step 1 — Install UniPlayer
On your Apple TV, open the App Store, search for UniPlayer, and install it. You can also open UniPlayer on the App Store.
Step 2 — Sign in or start the free trial
Launch the app and create an account, or sign in if you already have one. New accounts get a 30-day free trial with every feature unlocked.
Step 3 — Add your playlist
There are two ways to add a playlist:
- On the Apple TV: choose Add playlist, pick your source type — M3U, Xtream, Stalker, XML or VPortal — then paste the URL or enter your login.
- From the web dashboard: sign in at my.uniplayer.net, paste your M3U link or upload a file, and it syncs automatically to every device on your account.
UniPlayer normalizes all of these source types into one consistent interface, so the experience is the same whichever your provider uses.
Step 4 — Wait for the import and TV guide
UniPlayer imports your channels and loads the EPG (program guide) for each one. Large playlists take a moment the first time; after that they refresh automatically.
Step 5 — Start watching
Open any channel to begin playback. Add favorites, sort your list, and pause live TV. If your provider exposes an archive, use Archive (catch-up TV) to rewind and watch past programs.
Playing 4K / H.265 channels
The default System player is fast and light on resources, but it can’t decode 4K H.265. For those channels, open the player settings and switch to the VLC player, which supports 4K, H.265, deinterlacing, multiple audio tracks and hardware decoding.
Tips
- Keep playlists fresh: UniPlayer auto-updates and matches channels by name. If a provider rotates stream URLs, re-import to remove duplicates.
- Multi-device: one account covers up to four devices, and your playlists sync through the cloud.
- Parental control: restrict access to channels you’d rather keep away from kids.
UniPlayer never sells or provides channels. You’re responsible for using a playlist you’re entitled to — exactly like opening your own file in VLC.
(01)Does UniPlayer include channels?
No. UniPlayer is a player, like VLC — you bring your own M3U/M3U8 or Xtream playlist from your provider. It ships with no channels and sells no content.
(02)Do I need to pay to try it?
No. There is a 30-day free trial with full functionality and no payment details required.
(03)Why won't my 4K channel play?
The default System player can't decode 4K H.265. Open that channel's settings and switch to the VLC player, which supports 4K, H.265 and hardware decoding.
(04)My channels disappeared after an update — why?
Some providers rotate stream URLs. UniPlayer matches channels by name when it refreshes; if a provider changes names or links, re-import the playlist to clean things up.
